  • All children at 1 year old
  • Any person wishing to obtain immunity (protection)
  • Individuals who are at increased risk for infection
    • Men who have sex with men
    • People traveling to countries with high endemicity of hepatitis A
    • People using injection drugs
    • People using non-injection drugs
    • People who work with hepatitis A infected animals or hepatitis A research
    • Close contacts of adopted children coming from area of high endemicity
    • People with direct contact with hepatitis A infected persons
    • People receiving clotting products
    • People experiencing homelessness
  • People at increased risk for complications if they became infected with hepatitis A
    • All patients living with chronic liver disease, including:
      • chronic hepatitis B
      • chronic hepatitis C
      • non-alcoholic fatty liver disease
      • alcoholic liver disease
    • All patients awaiting liver transplant or post-liver transplant
    • People age 40 and older (more likely to be hospitalized)
