Who and When to Vaccinate - Hepatitis A
- All children at 1 year old
- Any person wishing to obtain immunity (protection)
- Individuals who are at increased risk for infection
- Men who have sex with men
- People traveling to countries with high endemicity of hepatitis A
- People using injection drugs
- People using non-injection drugs
- People who work with hepatitis A infected animals or hepatitis A research
- Close contacts of adopted children coming from area of high endemicity
- People with direct contact with hepatitis A infected persons
- People receiving clotting products
- People experiencing homelessness
- People at increased risk for complications if they became infected with hepatitis A
- All patients living with chronic liver disease, including:
- chronic hepatitis B
- chronic hepatitis C
- non-alcoholic fatty liver disease
- alcoholic liver disease
- All patients awaiting liver transplant or post-liver transplant
- People age 40 and older (more likely to be hospitalized)
